Feints and Misdirection – Be a Magician 🪄
Boxing, at its heart is a lot like magic… the tools of the magician are not so different from the tactics employed by the master boxer.  Â
Misdirection is an umbrella term across all combat sports for diverting your opponent’s attention for the sole purpose of making them pay for it. It’s a way to constrain chaos by leveraging pattern setting and pattern reading.  Â
Boxers utilize misdirection for myriad reasons:Â
 ·      guard manipulation (e.g., getting your opponent to move their arms up, down, etc.)Â
 ·      blinding the opponent’s line of sight, disruption of rhythm or positionÂ
 ·      eliciting a counterattack  Â
These are all used in effect for defensive or offensive purposes. Remember: attention is a currency. You’d rather your opponent spend it all in one place where you control the game.  Â
